Today is my 50th birthday. Want to know one of the reasons why I woke up with a smile today? (No, not because of the birthday sex!) I woke up smiling because I did NOT get any emails from random strangers saying “Die you Fat C**t.” I did not spell out the “C” word because the asshole who sent me that email could not spell out the word “cunt” but he could write a bunch of horrible stuff telling me I would be better off dead all because I am fat. INTENSE! And, the really intense part is that he used his real email address which led me to find out he is a Real Estate agent and his information is all over Google and Facebook.
A complete and total stranger looked up my personal email address and sent me a rage filled note in the middle of the night. I mean, he had to go to some work to find my info ad create his email. I am pretty sure he did not know it was my birthday, but who knows. I will never get why some people have such disdain for fat people living our lives. I mean, I do not dislike men with blue eyes. I do not dislike people with straight hair. I do not dislike people are tall. In fact, there is NO group of people that I dislike. (I take that back. I dislike all assholes.)
A couple years ago my friend Jen from Plus Mommy and I created this “Love Letter to a Bully Campaign” for Valentine’s Day. We all took a photo of ourselves that we love and we put words over our photo either putting our personal haters and bullies on blast or we wrote letters of forgiveness. It was very healing for me and lot of others. So, I am creating this opportunity for us to do it again. You can use one of your apps on your cell phone or used Canva or Picmonkey and share you photo on my Curvy Girl page ( Facebook.com/CurvyGirlinc ) or on IG using the hashtag #bullyloveletter and we will find you. We may even make a collage with a few of your pics.
I put my example from the last time we did this below. It will give you an idea of how I was feeling at the time. Not so sure I would be that kind this year, but I do forgive that asshole that sent me that horrible email last year on my birthday. (Oh and he apologized – but probably only because my friends and I all had a lot to say on this Facebook Real Estate pages.) He said he is an alcoholic and sometimes writes horribly mean things in the middle of the night and reads them the next day and feels like shit about it. Um. Ok, guy. Maybe if you KNOW you have a problem, maybe it’s time to step away from the alcohol and the wifi.
