It is so amazing how your life can change in an instant. On April 14th, one of my best friends found out she has Stage IIIC Ovarian Cancer. That was one month ago yesterday – a Saturday afternoon. She was feeling like crap, went to the E.R. at Kiaser Santa Clara and while she was there alone, they told her she had cancer. (They did a CT Scan and saw 2 humongous tumors on her left ovary and a bunch of other smaller tumors all over her abdomen area.) She texted me from the E.R. I was so confused, mad, scared and sad all within a half a second. GO FUND ME LINK
As you all know, #CANCERSUCKS. And, it also does not discriminate. (If you can give a little, here is the link. SHARE if you cannot. Both help.)
Dana and I have been friends for about 15 years. Maybe 14. Not sure. I met her via a women’s networking group and we hit it off right away. We became much closer once I opened my boutique, Curvy Girl, in October 2012. EVERY SINGLE time I would need any kind of help at my boutique – she was there. I would get all of these reality shows and other media interested in what we were doing. I would text her “hey, the local news will be here in a half an hour – can you come by?” She would be there 30 minutes later. EVERY SINGLE TIME! No lie. She is one of my biggest supporters and one of my best friends and I am still made, scared, sad, confused but also HOPEFUL. If there is one thing about Dana you should know, it’s that she is DOGGED and ALWAYS sees the bright side of things. ALWAYS!
I could go on and on. This past month has been super intense and honestly, every hour bring something new. We are just at the ready waiting for or next assignment to see how we can help Dana as she kicks cancer’s ass.
Some of you may remember her from our Curvy Girl Fashion Shows. In 2016, she and Saucye West kicked off our fashion show and they were the first two to walk the runway that year. (Still searching for those pics.)
This past year, one of her best friends joined the fashion show and that is the two of them at the bottom of the blog looking all sexy and sassy and eating a pink donut shaped cookie! The above pic is photo from our 2017 fashion show and she has one or our bustiers on along with a LIGHT UP SKIRT. She is sitting between my friends Karen and Shawn in the pic at the registration desk.
Like me, Dana is also self-employed. (She is a loan broker and also does some property management.) So, since April 14th – she has been through shock, surgery, chemo, liquid nutrition by IV and so much more I won’t even describe here. THIS IS SO HARD, y’all. I know you all know that. We started a GOF UNDME for her to help her out while she is surviving the roller coaster ride that is CANCER. So, if you can give $5 or $25 or more, please do. If you cannot, please SHARE her GoFundMe. If you do donate more than $40 I will also give you a Curvy Girl Gift Card for $20 off our website as a thank you. Every donation and share helps. And, we will happy receive any good vibes, prayers or other good thoughts you want to send Dana’s way. This will be a journey for all of us and we all appreciate your love and good vibes. We love and adore this woman and we want to do anything we can to help her fight this crap! Thank you.
