Sadly, most lingerie does not support breasts well. Sure, there are exceptions to that rule, but if you have cups larger than a D cup, you likely will want some additional support. I know I do. I am 47. My breasts are heavy and can be unruly! Some of you know what I am talking about.
I talk about this often at our boutique and I finally decided to put this little trick of mine into a blog so I can share this big boob trick. CURVY GIRL BRA HACK!
What I do, is I keep my “cute” bras that have stopped giving me really good support and I turn them into “FUN” bras or into what I call “Bedroom” bras. You know the bras I am talking about. The one’s you paid $60 for at Lane Bryant and they need to be retired! (Curvy girls wear their bras waaaaay too long. Most bras should be retired after about 6 months. But, I know. We wear them until they DIE.)
In the example here, I have what use to be a super cute purple and black zebra striped bra I bought at either Lane Bryant or at The Avenue and I cut it to turn it into a “demi bra” to give my love access to my nipples. But, I only cut out a small little piece of it so it still has support.
If you are a d cup or larger, you know that demi bras and balconettes do not work with your boobs. (Or, I should say, rarely works.) This is my way of turning my super industrial dd bras into my own version of a demi bra. It’s not perfect and could be prettier, but once you but your breasts in there, no one notices!
It’s great for me, because my breasts are heavy. I do not feel comfortable for very long without a bra on. And, it’s great for my lover, because he can still have access to my nipples when we’re having fun. Obviously, sometimes I do not pair my lingerie with a “fun bra” but most times I do. It’s just less exhausting for my back and neck. And, I like the idea of having my boobs and nipples UP and OUT. Makes for a very sexy silhouette.
In my next blog on bra tinkering, I will show you how I use the bras as fun bras WITHOUT cutting them. I hope you find this helpful! Share the pics with us when you cut your bras. START SMALL. You can always cut more. I’d hate for you to OVER cut on the first time around.
Let me know hot it works for you. This is CURVY GIRL HACKS 101!
