As many of you have likely noticed, the Fit Mom is back on a Press Junket promoting her new “reasons” campaign. First it was fat shaming us here at Curvy Girl in Nov. 2013. . Then, last year, she had a change of heart because she gained 10 lbs and realized that it is not easy to be married, be a Mom and work out all of the time. This year it is “What is your Reason” instead of “What’s Your Excuse.” She is saying it’s the 5 year anniversary of our “Curvy Girl vs. Fit Mom” battle, but that anniversary is actually this coming November. But, hey, what’s 10 months matter. If there is a press opportunity, she is all for it.
And, this time she got involved with Megyn Kelly who is already problematic. Check out this video of Megyn saying she actually prefers to be fucking fat shamed! Because, you know, it is the worst fucking thing ever to be FAT in Megyn’s small world view.
I did find it kind of an interesting twist because the Fit Mom is trying very hard to say she never fat shamed and she is not a bully and Megyn sort of glossed right over that and said how much she prefers to be fat shamed. And, the Fit Mom kind of had to roll with it and talk about how she encourages her own husband to fat shame her when she stays in bed too long or eat chips. Bwahahahahahaha …. nothing like talking out of both sides of your mouth, Fit Mom.

I feel like it is common knowledge that FAT SHAMING is super unhealthy. (Well, I thought it was common knowledge that shaming in any way is wrong and unhealthy, but apparently I am incorrect.) So, let me share a few links here to help educate any neandarthals reading my blog.
5 Science-Backed Effect of Fat Shaming You Should be Aware Of from Care2

Science Confirms that Fat Shaming Just Makes Things Worse from Healthline
The harmful effects of fat shaming go beyond just increased weight gain, which is serious enough as it is.
Here are some other harmful effects that are supported by studies (6, 7, 8):
- Depression: People who are discriminated against due to weight are at higher risk of depression and other mental issues (no surprise there).
- Eating disorders: Fat shaming is linked to an increased risk of eating disorders, such as binge eating disorder.
- Reduced self-esteem: Fat shaming is linked to reduced self-esteem.
- Others: By causing stress, weight gain, increased cortisol levels and mental problems, weight discrimination may raise the risk of all sorts of chronic diseases.
Looking at the literature, the research is very clear that fat shaming harms people, both psychologically and physically (8).
I could go on and on. Just Google it. Google “Fat Shaming” and you will find thousands of links and information. It’s not real difficult, Megyn.
If you want to see where all of my anger stems from, Google “Fit Mom vs. Curvy Girl” where in Nov. 13th the Fit Mom critiqued our “Regular Women in Lingerie” and you will see the entire 2 weeks of drama. I was on CNN, GMA, the Today Show, Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight and about a dozen more media outlets defending our right to be FAT, SASSY and HAPPY! Apparently that just makes Megyn Kelly and the Fit Mom really ticked off!
If you are being fat shamed and you need some resources, please always feel free to reach out to me. And, be sure you follow some amazing resources that are out there. I adore Ragen Chastain’s blog Dances With Fat. I also find Jes Baker’s blog, book and FB page The Militant Baker amazing. Be sure to google all things HAES (Healthy at Every Size) and you will find so many amazing people who are fat acceptance warrriors advocating for all of us. There are hundreds more resources I could share with you, but this is a great place to start. And, again, feel free to reach out to me via email or on my blog, and I will do everything I can to help you find the right resources.

Megyn, pleases educate yourself and stop encouraging fat shaming. Fit Mom, I have no idea what to say honestly. You need some more p.r. for some reason. So, good luck with the new book or the new whatever it is you need to make your life better.
I cannot Ms. Kelly saying anything more stupid or unhealthy. I cannot believe these two debated about how fat shaming is helpful in their lives. I know, in their minds it is the absolute WORST thing to be fat. I know hundreds of thousands fat people and they are pretty kick ass. They have jobs and lives. We have hot sex. We have relationships and kids. We have Phd’s, blogs, we love fashion and we love exercise. Some of us hate exercise. We are your neighbors and your coworkers. We exist and we are VERY satisfied with our lives. (Some of us are not.) We are humans. We are allowed to exist and take up space and we deserve all of the dignity, respect, love and everything else other humans get to enjoy! Please STOP with this madness and encouraging people to fat shame. (Megyn, have you considered what might happen to a 9 year old boy or girl who sees this crap?)
P.S. this is a cool list of really fat positive Instagrammers (And they included Curvy Girl, too.) https://www.generousplan.com/resources/best-body-positive-instagram-accounts/ Thank you Meredith Noble and a Generous Plan
